Looking Forward to ISC West

ISCWestFor security professionals of all types, one of the most exciting times of the year is approaching quickly. I am referring, of course, to the annual ISC West conference in Las Vegas – April 6 through April 8.  As the largest security industry trade show in the U.S., it really has no equal.  Brilliance Security Magazine attends many security related conferences each year and each has its unique place in the market but none compare in size, scope, and opportunity with ISC West.

For security industry magazine editors it is an especially busy time as our schedules fill up with interview opportunities, meetings, and social events.  For security consultants it is equally as busy as vendors, colleagues, and clients all vie for time at the conference.  You can imagine that for those of us who have both roles this is an incredibly busy and yet exciting time of year.

Readers of BSM are truly in for a treat this year. As we review the lineup of interviews that we have scheduled it promises to be a banner year for new announcements and reports on technology innovation.  Here are a few of the interviews that we have scheduled and certainly there will be more to come.

We are seeing an uptick in the industry with regards to interest in Global Security Operations Centers.  Many large global tech and retail firms will be expanding or moving their GSOCs this year.  This sends a pulse of activity through the security consulting submarket as consultants research the latest and greatest new innovations related to security operation center activities.  BSM will spend time meeting with and interviewing the powerhouses in this arena, such as Lenel, Software House, and Qognify, to name a few.  Look for reports on what new technologies are being integrated into the GSOC environment.

Storage is always a concern for security practitioners and we will spend time with Pivot3 trying to determine what the future holds for them. The LTO Program will help us understand Linear Tape-Open (LTO) technology and the role of tape in the surveillance market.  We will bring you all the information you need to be informed regarding storage.

Vanderbilt Industries is still working hard to make a splash in the industry and we will spend some time in their booth getting updated on the progress they are making.

ASSA ABLOY always makes a big showing at this conference. We will attend their functions and meet with their top executives to learn and report on any game changers coming down the road.

The Viscount Freedom Seminar promises to be enlightening and we will be sure to bring you all of the details needed to sort out the hype from the innovation.

Eagle Eye Networks and Brivo are shaking up the cloud storage angle of our business. We will interview them and report on what we can expect to see in the future of security.  As business systems move to the cloud in hordes, will security follow?  We’ll find out.

AMAG, Milestone, Pelco, and Arecont Vision will also contribute information to be included in articles coming up over the next few weeks.

We’ll see you in Las Vegas!
