Brilliance Security Magazine is a Media Partner with the ASIS Global Security Exchange, now called GSX, this year and we can feel the excitement building as the show gets ready to kick off at the Las Vegas Convention Center Sept 23-27. If you haven’t already registered for this conference, you’ll want to hurry. This year’s show promises to be a “don’t want to miss it” event.
To give you an inside view of what to expect, we talked with ASIS International’s 2018 President, Richard E. Chase, CPP, PCI, PSP. Below he describes some of the significant differences that can be expected at this year’s event.
He said, “One of the jewels for ASIS has been our Annual Seminar. With this change in the branding from the Annual Seminar to the Global Security Exchange (GSX), it is more than a name change. It is a complete evolution of our approach to providing our membership with the key aspects of what they need to serve in their present positions, serve their companies, and more importantly, serve their communities.
Virtually every aspect of this program has been rethought and revamped to ensure that we are delivering like no other going forward. It provides more opportunities for security practitioners, solution providers, students, and the first responder community such as law enforcement and military to immerse themselves in what’s new and exciting in our industry.
Attendees and exhibitors will find a tremendous value in our immersive and engaging expo hall. It is really unique and cutting-edge this year in that we have these X-Learning Stages. We’ve got what we’re calling the Xperience Stage which brings our membership and the service providers all together on the expo floor through a series of collaborative learning environments. The Xperience Stage showcases case studies, it’s interactive, it’s learning, and it’s more hands on.
And then we have what’s called an Xcelerated Exchange Stage which provides a forum for the critical discussions that need to take place between our members – which for the most part are practitioners – and the solution providers.
And then what we are calling the X Stage, the event’s signature innovation theater, which is providing the members with leading-edge technologies and their impact across the industry. Examining the potential implications of innovations with such things as blockchain, cyber currency, the drone issues, robotics, etc.
The drone issues are driving such a broad discussion that we’re providing what we’re calling the D3 Xperience – Drones, Droids, and Defense. This is supported by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) which will deliver an immersive learning experience. There will be education and live on show floor demos.”
A peek at the schedule will reassure you that GSX has not eliminated your favorite parts of this conference. There will be certification review programs, educational presentations, a golf tournament, keynote speakers, and social events.
We hope to see you at GSX next week!
