Approov, creators of advanced mobile app and API shielding security solutions, has named cybersecurity expert Ted Miracco as CEO. He assumes the role from David Stewart, who retires having built Approov into a company with record year-over-year sales growth of 35% in 2022 and recognized technical excellence in securing mobile apps and their APIs against attacks.
Approov is a cornerstone of mobile application security for leading global organizations whose consumer and B2B applications are used by millions annually, including eCommerce, financial services, healthcare and connected car sector organizations. Its platform enables organizations to protect their production mobile applications and APIs against current and future attack types. It is a particularly effective approach for defending against attack types that were not considered back when an app was first conceived, developed and launched.
“We actively recruited Ted knowing he had the right skills and knowledge to take Approov to the next level,” said David Stewart. “His enthusiasm, energy and savvy are unmatched in the cybersecurity world and he will quickly become a valuable asset to Approov as it further expands its market reach and leadership in securing mobile app APIs against the broad range of cyberattacks.”
“David Stewart leaves a legacy of technological innovation and achievement that will be missed,” comments Miracco. “I will work diligently to ensure his vision for Approov remains.”
Miracco brings to Approov 30 years in cybersecurity, defense electronics, RF/microwave circuit design, semiconductors and electronic design automation (EDA). He co-founded and served as CEO of Cylynt, which focuses on intellectual property and compliance protection. Miracco also co-founded EDA company AWR Corporation (now Cadence Design Systems), and previously worked with several Fortune 500 software companies, including Cadence and startup company EEsof Inc., acquired by Hewlett Packard. Miracco holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
“The Approov Board of Directors thanks David for his leadership and commitment as we welcome Ted into an exciting and growing company,” says Lucio Lanza, Approov’s chairman of the board and managing director of Lanza tech Ventures. “I look forward to working closely with Ted and developing as strong a partnership as I have with David.”
