EC-Council gives back to the Infosec community with a $1 Million Scholarship

As a leader in cybersecurity certification and education programs, EC-Council recently announced the launch of the 2021 edition of the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Practical Scholarship program.

The program awards $1 Million to the ethical hacking community by providing 2,000 qualified cybersecurity professionals with the chance to hone their skills through the CEH Practical exam. Candidates that successfully pass the exam will attain the CEH Practical certification.

EC-Council (International Council of E-Commerce Consultants) is a cybersecurity certification body that certifies professionals across the globe in various cybersecurity domains. The CEH certification is considered a cornerstone of ethical hacking and has set new benchmarks in the industry. CEH (Practical) is the world’s first industry-ready ethical hacking assessment conducted online, 100 percent verified, and remotely proctored.

Top government and private entities across the globe need cybersecurity professionals who have proven their practical skills and are ready to apply those skills. EC-Council’s mission is to build and refine the cybersecurity profession by helping individuals, organizations, educators, and governments in 140+ countries address workforce problems by developing and curating world-class cybersecurity education programs. To date, they have achieved this mission by equipping over 230,000 information-age soldiers with the knowledge and skills required to defeat black hat adversaries.

Through the CEH Scholarship program, candidates get the opportunity to demonstrate their hands-on abilities in a live, six-hour, remotely proctored CEH Practical exam with twenty challenges. Scholarship recipients will also be featured on the Global Ethical Hacking Leaderboard.

This year, the CEH Practical Scholarship program will bring women and members of the neurodiverse community to the forefront by reserving 50 percent of the allocated funds for these individuals, encouraging more representation and diversity among ethical hacking professionals. Students and existing professionals can also take advantage of this scholarship for further skill development.

“CEH (Practical) aims to provide the top cybersecurity minds of the world a platform from where they can set industry standards and create benchmarks,” said Jay Bavisi, President and CEO, EC-Council. “The scholarship will also ensure that we reach out to a more diverse cybersecurity community and help them develop their skills.”

“A successful candidate will serve in an intermediate trainee developmental level with assignments consisting of specific, often unrelated, tasks that are selected to orient employees in the practical application of theory and basic principles.” – US Department of Homeland Security

Bavisi continued, “EC-Council’s mission to mitigate cyber risk across the world by creating high-quality cybersecurity education through our CEH (Master) Scholarship program is an ongoing one. We are specifically committed to the creation of a diverse cybersecurity community. EC-Council’s program is part of our larger effort to harness the collective abilities of everyone to make the world a better place for all.”
